The Noble-200 Signature is a low-profile, dual-channel audiophile amplifier offering powerful, yet remarkably clear and natural sonic performance at a modest market price. At 6.75" high, the amplifier's output power is rated 200 watts per channel @ 8 ohms EIA (see specifications). The Noble-200 Signature can be optionally rack-mounted and used in home theater arrays with Noble Synergy amplifiers, or existing amplifier units.

The Noble-200 Signature represents the evolution of a solid commercial design to that of a refined and aesthetically pleasing audio power amplifier. Nothing was spared in the pursuit of producing a solid state amplifier that is exceptionally clean, clear, quiet, and delightfully expressive of subtleties.

While we want to brag a bit on the many, many refinements that we have made, at the same time we are not too eager to hand over our exact "recipe" to our competitors. This brochure will attempt to balance those two goals because we want the listeners to appreciate the breadth of our efforts.

Overall Goals of This Design Enhancement

We addressed many areas in this design. Some of these areas were:

1. Reduction of internal random noise - typically thermal noise and shot noise.
2. Reduction of internal generated noise - typically from the power supply.
3. Reduction of induced noise/interference from internal sources - typically the power supply, cooling devices (fans), and unwanted feedback of the power output.
4. Reduction of conducted noise/interference from the power mains.
5. Reduction of internal mechanical noise - fan(s).
6. Reduction of distortion/noise from non-linearities.
7. Reduction of Distortion/noise from non-ideal dielectric properties, especially as the unit ages.

Components, Components, Components

We performed a massive upgrade/replacement of components throughout the design. One reviewer referred-to our approach as "gutting the original design". He wasn't kidding. We carefully went through all of the critical signal paths, and threw out, almost everything. We replaced those components with:

  • Burr Brown
  • Nichicon
  • Caddock
  • Fairchild
  • Vampire
  • and others
Power DNAs

Without question, the Palma-engineered power DNAs (dissipative noise attenuation) play a prominent role in this design modification.

Rewired, Re-Routed, Re-Connected

Building (modifying) one of these units is extremely labor intensive. It requires a demanding attention - that afforded by Master R&D Technician, Gregory Palma (former EAD design team member).

We rewired and re-routed critical circuits and re-routed and shielded AC mains. Much work was done on the transformer to give it a "low profile", electrically speaking.

We employed refined magnetic shielding materials, of a very high permeability that I have used on spacecraft, many, many times. This material is quite expensive!

All solder joints are with no lead silver solder

Point to point wiring and some circuit board wiring is made with 99.9999% pure silver wire with Teflon insulation. Other critical wiring is made with Oxygen free copper Litz wire.

Mechanical / Ventilation

The front panel is a elegant Cherry wood design. It is truly gorgeous. Optional-other hard woods available.

The design of the ventilation system is convection up to 35 degrees C. Above 35 C the fan speed control circuit turns on at a very low and quiet speed.

There you have it. The result of combined 70 years of high-tech engineering and development by brother Greg and myself. We are both artists. Music is in our hearts, engineering is in our brains. We poured all of our creativity and intelligence into this system. We hope you enjoy!
